How effective is the implant at preventing pregnancy?

The US CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) reports that for every 10,000 couples that use the withdrawal method as their sole form of contraception, 5 of those couples will experience a pregnancy any given year. That’s a rate of 0.05%. Pretty impressive, right?

The reason that the implant (as well as the IUD) is so effective in preventing pregnancy is that there is no room for human error. There is no medicine to take every day, no patch to change weekly and no shot to remember to get every 13 weeks. It’s effective and easy!
