What if I don’t feel like a male OR a female?

In case anyone hasn’t told you yet, THAT’S OKAY! Most modern societies have a weird relationship with gender, but it doesn’t have to be so confusing. There’s a term called “non-binary” that means that you don’t identify as strictly “male” or “female.” This may be something that applies to you, but also keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be that way forever. If you feel more male or female later in life, it’s your right to embody that gender.

Many individuals, places of employment and communities are getting in the habit of sharing or asking folks to share their “gender pronouns” (which simply means if you prefer to be referred to as “he/him/his,” “she/her/hers” or “they/them/theirs”). It might feel uncomfortable at first, but it’s ultimately a sign of respect that you are in control of your own gender identity. What I would recommend is to learn to share your gender preferences and find a community (whether in-person or online) that supports gender fluidity.
