My period blood looks dark brown…

Period blood can be lots of different colors and textures. Moreover, it can vary significantly within the course of a single period. Darker colors like brown or rusty red are more likely some old blood while bright-red blood is going to be more recent bleeding.

All of these colors are normal!

In addition, blood can be thin, thick, mucous-y or clotted (chunks of blood).

All of these are normal!

If your period lasts longer than 7 days and/or if you experience heavy, bright-red bleeding for many days it’s worth discussing with your doctor.
