Is it normal to get irregular cramps and bleeding on birth control pills (specifically, Nikki)?

Nikki is a combined hormone pill. And it is possible in the first few months of taking the pill that your bleeding is a bit off, especially if you started the pack mid-cycle. Irregular bleeding (and associated cramping) is the most common side effect of starting ANY form of birth control. However, if you’ve been on it for more than a few months and you’re still having abnormal bleeding and/or cramping, you may want to talk with your doctor and see if there is a better option for you.
