How do I know if I’m worrying to much?

The answer to this question is personal. It’s natural to worry, especially during times like these, but if it’s interfering with your daily activities then it’s probably too much.

There are many types of anxiety disorders, only a few of which have the stereotypical “panic attacks.” Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is one of the most common mental health conditions in teenagers. Diagnosis requires 6 months of symptoms and intense anxiety more days than not about a variety of everyday of situations and occurrences (“generalized”).

What is there to do about it? A few things. The first is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a tool that helps retrain your thought process to reduce your anxiety. This can be done with a CBT specialist or trained provider and is helpful for the entire spectrum of anxious thoughts and disorders. There are also many virtual tools that offer CBT. A second leg of treatment is medication which can only be prescribed by your doctor. However, medication works best when used with therapy or CBT.
