Is it normal to bleed a lot during your first time?
Yes, it can be. It’s not the same for everyone but most individuals with a vagina will bleed when an object larger than a tampon is inserted into the vagina. This is because the hymen (the piece of skin/tissue that surrounds the opening of the vagina) needs to tear a little. Sometimes, there’s a lot of tearing (or tearing in multiple places). This means that there can be a lot of bleeding. Furthermore, the bleeding might last into the next day as the tissue heals. That’s okay! If you want to avoid further bleeding, it’s best to let the hymen heal completely before your next attempt. However, it’s still possible to bleed the first FEW times you have sex. So don’t be scared, don’t be alarmed.
