How soon after sex do pregnancy symptoms start?
If you’ve had unprotected sex, or if you have concerns about pregnancy, consider the actual timeline for conception. Pregnancy symptoms arise from implantation of the embryo into the wall of the uterus — something that takes anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks to happen after sex. So any symptoms you feel a couple of days after sex are unlikely to be due to pregnancy.
For most females, the first sign of pregnancy will be a missed period. Thereafter, the most common symptoms are nausea (at any time of day), breast tenderness, sleepiness and an increased need to urinate. These usually develop after a missed period, though some people do not experience these symptoms at all.
If you are concerned about a pregnancy, the best way to tell if you’re pregnant is by taking a pregnancy test AFTER your missed period.
