How does being on the pill affect emotions?
Many folks find that birth control affects their mood — either in a positive or negative way. While studies do not show that birth control directly causes mental health disorders, it can exacerbate emotional swings and anxiety. Forms that are high in a single hormone (either estrogen or progesterone) have historically accounted for some mood changes. A different formulation may relieve your symptoms or concerns.
If anxiety is the problem, try a formulation that is low-maintenance and super effective (like an IUD or nexplanon) to help relieve some of your nerves.
